Introducing the new BrommiePlus 10 speed wheelset! This wheelset features our new welded rims that are both lightweight and strong. (More information on this rim)
This package is for converting your Brompton to a 10 speed based on Sturmey Archer's S-RF5(W) N Ver., with two sprockets. This S-RF5(W) 5x2 set up will potentially provide a wider gear range than the standard BWR 3x2, depending on your selected sprockets. While this wheelset package is most suitable for upgrading an existing 2- or 6-speed Brompton, it can be fitted to any Brompton, provided the derailleur related mechanism is retrofitted. Such factory equipment is not included in this package. Alternatively, you can opt for a 5 speed pacakge, which is typically sufficient for city riding.
The Sturmy Archer S-RF5(W) gear hub is known for being difficult to adjust. This is due to the adjustment window being very small, and compounded by the fact that Sturmey Archer's instructions do not apply to Brompton. In our package we will include an installation instruction and tuning guide specifically for Brompton. It does still require a good patience on your part for initial adjustment.
Package content:
- Front wheel, with Brommieplus BPF01 front hub, including rim tape and skewer
- Rear wheel, with Sturmey Archer S-RF5(W) N version, including rim tape
- Rear hub fitting kit (axle nuts, indicator chain, cable anchor, non-turn washers, circlip, guide nut)
- Sturmey Archer SLS50 thumb shifter
- Shifter fitting kit (Jagwire cable housing, teflon coated gear cable, Jagwire end caps)
- Sprocket, 2 pieces, per selected size, together with spacer(s)
- 8 speed chain
You will need to choose the size of sprocket to complete the package. Please refer to the gear ratio tables, and using your existing configuration as the benchmark. Further, changing the size of sprocket may require alternation to the chain length. Please see the recommended chain length table.
The package is pre-built and ready to ship. If you would like different combination of rims, hubs, or spokes, we also offer custom built wheelsets through the wheelset configurator.
